I guess it was about a year ago that Luvs began to put stretch tabs on their diapers. I hated them when they didn’t stretch, b/c they I couldn’t get a snug fit. Aside from the tabs, I already knew that they were comparable to Pampers, but w/o the stretch, I was forced to pay for pricier Pampers. So as you can imagine, when I found out that they added the stretch sides, I was super stoked. I went out, bought a pack, compared Luvs side by side with the Pampers Baby Dry. They are virtually the same diaper! Same shape, same size, same thickness, and now they have the same exact tabs! They just have different outer designs and the absorbant core is green in Baby Dry and blue in Luvs. I haven’t gone back to Pampers. Why pay more for the same diaper?

A friend told me that Luvs, manufactured by P&G, the same company that makes Pampers Swaddlers, were just as great and a lot cheaper. I have to agree. We’ve actually had less leaks with the Luvs diapers. The only difference is that the outside of the Luvs diapers feels less cloth-like than the Pampers Swaddlers and the tabs feel less velcro-like. As far as functionality, though, Luvs keep us and our little one happy even at night. P&G is a marketing powerhouse. I think they’re marketing Luvs and Pampers to different demographics, but they’re essentially the same product. Don’t buy the hype. Save the cash and put it in your kid’s college fund!

Luvs have been my hands-down favorite diaper for my daughter since she was in size 1 (she’s size 4 now!). They fit perfectly, thanks to the stretchy waistband and legs, and I could count on one hand the number of times they have leaked. This amazon price is also much cheaper than my local discount store–$0.01 per diaper less, plus no shipping or sales tax.
